On Saturday, March 12, 2011, I had the privledge of volunteering both my time and my services to the Saraland Lion's Club fundraiser. This year's 3rd Annual Pancake Breakfast was held as always at the FUN to visit, Catfish Junction, in Saraland Alabama.
The Amazing owners & friendly staff of this resteraunt donate thier location and even more importantly, they donate thier time to host this fundraiser every year & make more pancakes than I have ever seen!
So, where'd all the money go? This year's record breaking fundraiser benefited the Saraland High School Band. Saraland's High School is raising money for a new uniforms. The Saraland High School is brand new to our community & starting it's second year. The Saraland Spartains were out in full School Spirit, both student's & faculty! The band played for the entire 3 and 1/2 hour event. Now, that's school spirit.
While I was with the large crowds enjoying the band, I had an immeadiate Flashback to my band days in Louisiana.
Yes, I played the Clarinet! I was more like Squidward and less like Benny Goodman. Either way, this group had spirit. You can't really put a pricetag on the team building of a High School Band and the confidence a student gets when they learn to play an instrument. This was a great fundraiser idea all around.
Many thanks go out the the Saraland Lions's Club. These guys were very welcoming of my time & the 2 children's Photo Packages I donated to the raffle. I have never met a friendlier group of people. The same can be said for the warm & friendly staff at the Catfish Juction. The resteraunt was packed over and over again at least 5-6 times over the course of the event, and everyone was just as happy with every filling as they were with the first.
