Mother's Day Eve Shopping with my family was a lot of fun. Anything I stopped off to look at, my husband started buying. He spoils me. I was reading the back of lens filters, when he said, "Which ones do you have?" Then he bought the other two. I was so excited, I popped this one on in the car. It has so much holiday potential...
It's the 8 point Star Filter. Nice huh? I also have a Neutral Density filter...but haven't gotten to toy around with it yet. I really love getting new gadgets.

Week 18's Theme "First thing in the Morning" had such a great variety of photographs from the normal household activities to the the great outdoors. I found it difficult to pick just one thing to focus on, and I'm sure these guys did too. When I think of first thing in the morning, I think of unmade beds, untamed curls, steaming hot coffee the joy and possibilities of a new fresh day. Enjoy our Ten Favorite for the week. And for my photo of the week, I packed up and drove to the Fairhope Yacht Club, where I enjoyed the sailboats tied up before just as the sun rose over the bay.
Next week's theme is Window Light, with 15 windows in the Ellenburg Photography Studio, the possibilities are endless and I'm looking forward to the challenge. Happy Mother's day weekend to all the amazing Mom's out there. Wishing everyone a great week of Sun, Smiles and Photography!

Saturday I attended a fantastic Off Camera Lighting Photography Workshop. This workshop is part of the many workshops offered by the University of South Alabama. Taught by Carlos Prieto of Mobile, Alabama and Joshua Dahl of Oceans Springs, Mississippi. The class was fun and very hands on with a great small group.
Course started with a slide show and explanation by Josh...
Then we went over some amazing off camera lighting - I must say that I'm quite impressed with Alien bees. I've read and read and read about them but to see them in action was really a treat for me. Here's a couple of what we worked with... (P.S. I want them all)
Then our instructors taught a set up and we all shot with the equipment. We set up and shot both indoors and outside in the sun. Using this large variety of equipment was Big FUN.Here's the Set up...

We went about this most of the class. I really Enjoyed it.
Our Model, Jamie, was very chipper the entire day. Great fun to work with. Many thanks to all the wonderful new people I met and to our instructors Carlos & Josh. This was a great class. I now want many new and exciting things for our Ellenburg Studio. Ooooh, I can't wait.

Week 17 's theme was "Princess for a Day" to coordinate with the excitement of a new Royal Wedding. It was an exciting week. I watched it with my little princess, like a lot of you did. It was fun to watch and it was nice to see the start of happily ever after. I love weddings.
