Week 43, Our Favorites

Shadows were a fun theme for week 43. As fun as it is to capture the perfect shadow, then you get the joy of processing it. Do you go with black and white, color, or add a new texture? The best part is you can try them all and pick your favorite. Our photographers really had some cleaver ideas for shadows this week, from the ordinary everyday shadowed life events to the extraordinary events that were created just for this week. However you found your shadow, it was great that you got out there and found it and are committed to completing this challenge. We're in the home stretch - Nine more weeks and you've got the 2011 52 week challenge under your belt.
Now on to our favorites. If you enjoy our selected artist, visit the links under the photos and send them some love. Everyone could use a bit of encouragement, and your words might be just the pat on the back they need to fire the motivation we all crave now and again. So, go ahead and pat away. Ready. Set. Here we go...

Week 44's MCP Actions Project 52 Theme is "Muted Tones". So What is Muted Tones anyway? Muted tones are Primary or Secondary colors that have been mixed with Grey to make the color less intense - think light glowing pastels and that fun "beachy" art kind of look. Muted tones are easy to create with your super awesome photoshop editing skills. But for a real challenge, Muted Tones are easily photographed in the very early hours of the morning, in a light fog or after a rain or snow - however you choose to find your Muted Tones, I can't wait to see them! Wishing you a week of fun, family and photography! Happy Snapping and have a safe and Halloween! (Got some great costume photos? Post them on our Facebook, we'd love to share them!! www.facebook.com/EllenburgPhotography)

43/52 Love Shadows

This morning I got ready to start picking my week 43 favorites and realized I hadn't blogged about my shot this week.
43/52 Love Shadows

At the reception for this wedding I had a shot of some amazing shadows from a chandelier - and was full committed to shining it up and submitting it. But...as it turns out, I was editing this shot {that I'm in love with, you know, that one amazing shot from the wedding that you know your Bride and Groom with fall in love with} and I said, I've got too much shadow on my groom's face and then it hit me, SHADOW. So, there you have it :-)
This photo is almost right out of the box. I raised the orange a bit, desaturated the dress and brightened up my grooms face. Easy Breezy, Beautiful Moment.

New Orleans LOVE

New Orleans LOVE, what can I say, I could spend a whole week there with my camera photographing something different each day (all day) and never get bored. {I'd bore the pants off Mike, but I'd be big smiles all day} I'm itching for my trip to PhotoNOLA this year, and I resurrected these great HDR shots of the French Quarter from last year. Enjoy.

Week 42, Our Favorites

As a Photographer, "True Beauty" is an easy concept for me to get my arms around. Every day, I find something beautiful to photograph. Photographers see things differently. I catch myself "framing" life all the time. Being able to find the beauty in the ordinary and to capture the extra-ordinary make us special. Photography is truly an art and this week, you guys did a fantastic job. We saw every photography style imaginable, because we all have a favorite passion that we are drawn to. I enjoyed the beautiful faces, relationships, landscapes and flowers. But do you know what is even more beautiful than these "True Beauty" photographs? Its that so many of your photographs are getting technically so much better every week. It is truly a pleasure to be active in such a talented group.
Now on to our top ten favorites...as always in no particular order. If you like the artists, click their links below and send them some love. Everyone could use an encouraging pat on the back and your words could make all the difference, so go on, pat away! Here we go...

For many of you, you'll find that your "True Beauty" photograph is one of your favorite kinds of photography to snap at, for me that's easily true. My true beauty is my mini-me, Madison. She has been the most beautiful thing I've ever seen for the past almost 4 years. She fills our lives with joy and feeds my passion for photography. Here's a photograph of Madison and her robot cat, Edwin in my "Field of Dreams" just outside our studio.

Week 43's theme of "Shadows" has got me looking for shadows everywhere. And I am eager to manipulate them in my favorite black and white software, Nik's Silver Efex 2.0 - I know this group will find some really great things with this theme and I can't wait to see how creative you can be. Haven't joined MCP Project 52? There is still time to join. This year is creeping to an end, if there is a technique or something you've been itching to try, go for it. The only way to really succeed and to get better is through trial and error - every mistake gets you one step closer to perfection. Best of luck with your Shadow Photos ~ Wishing you a week of Family, Fun and Photography! Happy Snapping!

Week 41, Our Favorites!

Architectural Photography is not something I'm naturally attracted to. This week's project forced me to give it a shot, and guess what? I really had a great time. It was a lot of fun for me to look through our pool of photographs this week. I especially love when you map your photographs, because this week we really got to see the world, all over our America, some Canada, some Austrailia, some Rome, and even some China. What a fun trip it was to see Architecture through your eyes! You guys really did a fantastic job.
There is a link to each artist below the photograph, if you enjoy the art, check out the artist and send them some love. Everyone could use a little encouragement and your words could make all the difference to someone who struggled a little this week.
Now, with only 11 weeks more to go in 2011, here's our top Ten...as always in no particular order!

I went here to shoot the gorgeous red doors and was fortunate enough to be invited inside for a private tour. You can read about this adventure on our blog at: 41/52 Architecture Adventures - And yes, I did have to lay on the floor of a historic church for this great shot. Also, many thanks to the kind ladies at the MCP Project 52 for featuring our fun photograph this week. It was an honor to be surrounded by such an amazing top ten selection.

Week 42's MCP Project 52 theme is "True Beauty" - this leaves the door wide open for our pool of creative photographers. What's beautiful to you? Flowers? Sunset? Babies? New Love? As a photographer, it's easy to find true beauty in something everyday. Today, for me, True Beauty is my new build in side by side Fridge & Freezer...

I said, "Hooray! Can we turn it on?"
"No, Not yet." :-(

Until next week, wishing you a great week filled with Family, Fun & Photography. Happy Snapping!
